Our bottle sealing wax is made by 'Calwax'. It is a tough, moisture resistant coating which preserves freshness, flavor and fragrance. It also provides tamper evident protection. It can be applied by capping the top of the of the recessed cork or by dipping the cork and bottle into the wax. This wax is produced in 'bead' form which makes for easier melting and use.

Capping Application- Depress the cork 1/8" to 1/4" below top of bottle. Pour melted wax slowly onto top of cork. Maintain wax temperature of 200-240 deg F. The presentation can be enhanced by applying a stamp into the hot wax. Artistic effects can be achieved by allowing the wax to overflow the top of the bottle and run down the sides.

Dipping Applications- Melt wax in a suitable container (see below). Invert the bottle and carefully lower the corked end into the melted wax. Hold and leave the top immersed for 10-15 seconds. Then, lift the bottle straight up and allow the excess wax to run off the top. When excess wax slows or stops, turn the bottle upright and allow it to cool. Novel effects can be achieved by allowing the wax on the dipped bottle to cool, and then re-dip the bottle. This proceedure can be repeated with different colored waxes. Bottles can be dipped or re-dipped at an angle for a unique presentation.

Tips for use: Use a double boiler, crock pot or seamless melting pot for melting wax. A candle making thermometer can be used to monitor proper wax temperature. Monitor the wax to assure melting temperature is maintained (200-240 deg F.). IMPORTANT * HEATED WAX SHOULD NEVER EXCEED 450 DEG F. TO PREVENT COMBUSTION. NEVER POUR WATER ON A WAX FIRE. WATER WILL CAUSE FIRE TO SPREAD. TO EXTINGUISH A FIRE, COVER THE CONTAINER WITH A METAL LID OR USE A DRY CHEMICAL FIRE EXTINGUISHER. WAX SHOULD BE DISPOSED IF YOU EXPERIENCE A BURNT ODOR OR IF THE COLOR HAS DARKENED. NEVER POUR MOLTEN WAX INTO DRAINS OR SINKS.
